Ironwood Signs Arch & Godfrey As Contractor

Ironwood has signed an agreement with local contractor, Arch and Godfrey, to lead the development of the Town Center, which will host restaurants, shopping, entertainment and Town Centre Loft Homes.  "This appointment supports Ironwood’s continued commitment to engage with local companies with a track record of high quality work, throughout the duration of the construction of the development," said Project Director, James McVey.  See the full story at Cayman 27.

New Road Extension Expected to Create 200 Jobs

Ironwood developer, David Moffitt, says local companies and workers will be hired on all aspects of the highway construction project, estimating that the public-private partnership will create around 200 jobs.  Mr. Moffitt is hopeful the Government business case for the infrastructure project will be published in March, which will pave the way for the $360 million golf resort development and Ironwood Town Centre to proceed. He added, “This infrastructure project will put 75 percent of its dollars directly into local hands. That equates to nearly $40 million going to local quarries, truck drivers, equipment operators and contractors. They in turn will be spending on local services, which will have a direct and immediate impact on the entire economy.”

Ironwood Launches Wilma Moffitt Charity Foundation

The Moffitt family see Ironwood as a place that will provide a significant contribution to the people of the Cayman Islands.  Ironwood hopes to continue the legacy of Wilma Moffitt, who moved to Cayman in 1958 to establish a school with the creation of the Wilma Moffitt Foundation which will focus on educational and sports-related scholarships for children of the Cayman Islands.  At Ironwood, we believe the pursuit of education should be a basic right of every child.

Another long range goal of the Wilma Moffitt Foundation is to be a conduit for transfer of knowledge.  Ironwood and the Foundation want to continue her legacy by encouraging that the vast wealth of knowledge from incoming Ironwood retirees be divested to our local school children through mentoring, tutoring and after school programs. These acts of service give our retirees purpose, while nurturing a service minded foundation in children.
