Government Responds To National Trust Road Solution

Government responds to the options offered by the National Trust concerning a controversial planned road extension that would run right through the Mastic Reserve.

Premier Hon. Alden McLaughlin and Minister Hon. Kurt Tibetts outlined the Trust’s proposed changes in a press conference Tuesday. However, they emphasised the fact the $360 million Ironwood project relies upon the planned road staying where it is.

“The developers have made it very plain that the viability of this project is contingent on the road staying essentially as it is. That doesn’t mean there can’t be tweaks or it moved slightly. But to completely change the route would undermine the premise of the project,” Mr. McLaughlin said.

Cayman 27 contacted the National Trust for comment on the matter, but we have not heard back as yet.
